Doctor Appointment

Mommy had another doctor appointment this past Monday and everything went great! She is doing well and has gained 12 lbs. so far...right on target! The doctor says that it appears that I am also growing well based on the size of mommy's uterus and my heart beat was 161. I decided to stay awake for this appointment! That last one she had was a long one and kept poking and proding me so I fell asleep by the time she actually saw the doctor. Mommy's also glad that I am already acing my tests....I couldn't have done any better on my Downs Syndrome and Trisomy 18 tests. Mommy's next appointment will be in another 4 weeks and it will be another boring one. Mommy's also participating in a Aquamom's class and it is helping her stay active and keep away the back pain. She's starting to get really excited for me to come and is starting to prepare my room!

My First Diaper!

Mommy's friend Julie bought me my first cloth diaper! She even had it personalized with my nickname "Riley Roo". Mommy can't wait to try it out once I am born and can't wait until she gets more!!

I have a name....other than Foo!

Well, mommy and daddy finally found out this morning that I am a girl! Mommy was so excited and she was able to tell daddy that she was right, and he was wrong, which she always enjoys doing! Daddy is also very excited. I am now called Riley, instead of "foo" or "it". My full name will be Riley Elizabeth O'Neill. Mommy has also finally started to gain a little weight. She has now gained 5 lbs during this pregnancy. In addition to showing my gender, the ultrasound also showed two arms, two legs, five fingers on each hand, five toes on each foot, all the correct parts of the brain, a 4 chambered heart, and the kidney and stomach. The doctor said that I look perfect! Mommy will have her next appointment in 4 weeks, but nothing much will really happen then.

Movin' and Groovin'!!

I've been dancing around for weeks now, but mommy has been too busy to notice, I guess. Now, there is no doubting it though. Mommy felt me move for the first time last Friday, May 25, and since then she's been noticing it more and more. Today she has already felt my little "kicks", "nudges", and "punches" several times. I'm not quite big enough for her to feel it from the outside yet, and of course daddy is very jealous that mommy gets to feel me move and he doesn't. He'll just have to wait a few more weeks, though, and then he should be able to feel everything that mommy feels!

I'm coming right along.....!

Mommy went to the doctor today and she got to hear my heart beat again! The doctor found it right away with the little doppler machine. My heart beat at that moment was 154. Mommy also talked to the doctor about child birth classes and an Aquamoms class that is offered at the hospital. Her doctor (Dr. Joan Schieber) highly recommended the Aquamoms class. Mommy thought that she was going to get out of wearing a swimming suit this summer while she was pregnant, but it doesn't sound like that is going to happen! Mommy also convinced the doctor to do the BIG ultrasound (including gender identification) at 18 weeks, instead of waiting all the way to 20 weeks like Dr. Schieber originally wanted. So, on June 18 (which also happens to be mommy and daddy's 2nd wedding anniversary), they will FINALLY know what gender I am! What a cool anniversary present for them. I was hoping the doctor would agree to let mommy do the ultrasound at 18 weeks, because mommy was talking about buying a urine test that claims to be able to tell you the gender of the baby after 10 weeks, or even peeing on Drano crystals. Mommy was really starting to go nuts!
